A refined technique.
Designed for faster recovery.

Carpal tunnel release has evolved. The approach Dr. Pizzera uses combines ultrasound precision with the smallest possible incision — reducing recovery time and surgical risk.

01

Ultrasound-guided planning

Before a single incision is made, high-resolution ultrasound maps the exact anatomy of your carpal tunnel — nerve position, tissue layers, and any anatomical variation. This eliminates guesswork entirely.

02

Ultra-minimally invasive release

A single incision of just 5 mm is used to release the transverse carpal ligament under continuous ultrasound guidance. No general anaesthesia required. The procedure takes 20–30 minutes.

03

Same-day discharge

You are observed briefly and discharged the same day. Most patients from the UK fly in and out within 48 hours — morning surgery, evening hotel rest, next day travel home. Office work is typically possible the following day.

04

Remote follow-up

Post-operative care is provided via video consultation — no need to return to Austria. Written aftercare instructions in English are provided in advance.

Your questions,
answered honestly.

Do I need a referral from my GP?

No. You can contact us directly. However, if you have a previous nerve conduction study (NCS) or specialist referral letter, please include it — it speeds up the process and may avoid duplicate testing.

Will I need to make multiple trips to Austria?

In most cases, no. A single trip of 1–2 nights covers the pre-operative check, surgery, and initial aftercare. All follow-up is handled remotely via video call.

What if I have complications after returning home?

Dr. Pizzera is directly reachable by email and phone. If necessary, we liaise with your local GP or A&E. Serious complications after carpal tunnel release are uncommon, but every surgical procedure carries individual risks. Before treatment, Dr. Pizzera will discuss risks, alternatives and expected recovery based on your case.

Is the €2,300 really all-inclusive?

Yes. It covers consultation, surgery, clinic fees, anaesthesia, dressings, and remote follow-up. Travel and accommodation are not included — but Graz offers excellent value hotels from €70/night.

Can I claim back costs from UK private insurance?

Some UK private insurers reimburse treatment abroad. We provide full itemised invoices and operative reports in English to support any claim. Check your policy's "treatment abroad" clause.

How do I know if I'm a suitable candidate?

Most patients with confirmed CTS — either clinically or by nerve conduction study — are suitable. Fill in the contact form with your symptoms and any existing reports; we will advise within 24 hours.

What language will the consultation be in?

English. All consultations, written instructions, operative reports, and follow-up communications for international patients are conducted entirely in English.

How do I get from Graz Airport to the clinic?

Graz Airport (GRZ) is 15 minutes from the city centre. The practice is easily reachable by taxi (<€20) or public transport. We provide a detailed transfer guide upon booking.
